I'd be all for meeting forum members when I'm a bit older (TBH, a 14 year old meeting up with people he's only talked to online is a bit, well, odd.)

Michael ("MyOrgan") and his sweet wife were visiting relatives in the southern US and "only" 350 or so miles away, so they popped over to go to church with us this morning and then took my wife and me out to lunch! We sat and talked until after 3:00 p.m. and had a wonderful time.

Sorry to be so long to respond, but I got the first internet connection today in Buffalo, New York, toward the end of our trip.

Ditto on what you said, John!!!  The visit was well worth the 900+ mile round-trip.  It was the least we could do after all you've done for us, our organs, and others on the Forum.

John, you sell yourself and your abilities short.  I do envy your voicing skills with your Allen at church.  I wish I knew someone who could play my organ so I could listen to it and hear what it sounds like.

It was also great to meet John's better half (his wife).  The visit helped my wife commiserate with someone who also truly understands what it's like to live with one who collects organs--there's always one better or bigger out there.  Of course, it doesn't make it any easier to live with me, but at least my wife understands she's not alone in the world anymore!

John, thanks for all you do for this Forum.  Meeting you was truly an experience I'd recommend to anyone!

    Michael,

Good to hear from you. Hope you had a great trip. It was a real joy to visit with you and your wife. Too bad about the awful heat wave that greeted you here. We WILL get together again!

Did you play other organs along the way? Would be interested in hearing about any other instruments you encountered.

Getting ready for a big Sunday morning service. Should be a great day.

I haven't followd this thread but I'm going to "chime" in.

I think it would cool to meet other forum members.  I live east of Dallas Texas and I know there are other fourm members in the area.  I've had to do so many things in my life alone becuase I just don't know people.  I would love to be in a band as a keyboard or bass player but it just isn't happening.  At least with the organ one can play melody accompaniment and bass while baing alone.  I always jump at the chance to talk about music with other musicians.

Re: How do you feel about meeting fellow Forum members?

This seems like the perfect thread for us to express our thanks to Allan Plunkett and the other members of CRTOS for welcoming my wife and I to their annual picnic.  It was a great time!  What an incredible Wurlitzer 'D' that Allan is willing to share.  Not to mention interesting and talented guests.  Yeah, I feel good about meeting fellow Forum members!

Our contact info is available here and we would welcome visitors who are interested in seeing a "budget" approach to the theater organ side of Hauptwerk here in Vancouver.

    John,

Thanks for the great review. I really enjoyed meeting you. It is really fun to hear others play and get new ideas about registration and playing style. Good luck with your VTPO.
