Wow! - Eleven year old! (YouTube)

Check out this young fellow - Rory plays  Boellmann's Toccata from Suite Gothique

I have been adding many young organists to my YouTube Playlist "Young Organists"  As an organ enthusiast, I am always encouraged when I find a young person who has an interest in playing the "king of instruments"! I have compiled this playlist of organists ranging from a very young age to around 20, and of varied experience levels. Most have several other videos to explore. There are now around 40 young organists on the list!

I can play part of toccata and fugue in D minor, andantiono in G minor by Franck- easy songs and it was a challenge for me! Leon Boellman?? I could only dream of playing him!

And those organs. i thought I was lucky to play St Cecilias organ on occasion! But these 17th and 18th century german organs??? Oh I would die and go to heaven to play one!

Thank you very much for the YouTube video playlist.  I will be sharing the Boellmann Toccata with my students on Thursday AM.  It will make a nice challenge to them in developing their musical abilities.

I once had a student who learned the Toccata from Bach's d Minor, but we had to wait until his feet would reach the pedals in 5th grade before he could play it.  Took first place in the State Solo & Ensemble Festival!  Too bad he didn't keep it up.

I shared this video with my students today and explained what was involved in playing the piece--even played parts of it for them so they knew what to listen for.  They sat mesmerized.  They compared it to the show, America's Got Talent!

The question came up, and I was wondering--in my quick trip around your playlist of videos, I couldn't find any young female organists.  Why do you think that is?

myorgan - I'm glad you found the playlist useful!

There a few girls on the list, but not many. - I listed all that I have found. Young female organists seem to be few and far between on YouTube. I don't know if there are fewer young girls who play the organ, or if it is because boys are more into making videos or like to "show off" their playing. It's interesting that in all the girl's videos, someone else is taking the video, while in a big share of the boys videos, they set up and start their own camera, then walk into the scene to play.

Here's a  girl who was only 10 years old when she did this "WOW" video in 2006. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BQtsTQCH_Y

That's good! Looks like he couldn't reach all the manuals. :-) It looks like he is using both feet constantly--does that piece have two notes for the pedals? I wish I was that good! :-)

Heard her play on Canada's largest pipe organ, and was quite impressed.

Here's another young female, there are both piano and organ vids on her channel.

Thanks - I finally got her added to the playlist, but I added a Bach piece by her.

There are a couple of other very talented kids on youtube. One goes by the screen name of pianorgano. He is a brilliant pianist and organist with a good collection of videos playing high quality literature. He is remarkable. Another young man goes by the name of octavebasse8. He is a very gifted musician.
