    Help Identifying a Hammond

Hello, first post, first time Hammond owner!

So, a friend from church gave me the organ that was in her father's living room for many, many years. She had to get it out of her storage unit and asked if I wanted it. We removed enough of the packing to determine that it is a Hammond with two manuals and drawbars. Good enough for me.

Aside from that, I have no idea what model it is. The most distinguishing feature is a row of small buttons to the left of the lower manual, with different labels such as Flute and Organ.

It's now in my storage unit until I move and have room for it, so it will be hard to get more details. Any ideas?

First, Congradulations.   We're always glad to have another organ owner in the forum.

You've posed a tough question because Hammond made so many models during the heyday of the home organ.  If you recall the organ having one round opening under the keydesk for the speaker, you might just be lucky enough to have found an M3 -- one of the earliest home organs and a very prized model.

We'll look forward to your move and possibly your posting some photo's so we can give a more accurate guess.  But thanks for coming to the forum and you'll find a wealth of hammond resources mentioned in these posts once you start working with your new instrument.

    Welcome!

I think this is a later model than the M3--based on the description of the buttons on the left of the lower manual. On an M3 those should be the percussion controls. It sounds as though, instead, it has presets of some kind. Others will be able to help here--did the T series have those? I'm thinking T series or later era Hammond. As OrgansR4Me said, photos would help a lot if possible.

There is (more than likely) a data plate somewhere on the organ; on the back somewhere or under the lower manual above the player's knee. Ypou should find the m/n and the serial number there as well.

We're guessing, though we can rule out things like M3, L100, M100, T series etc.

What we need is a photo or two - doesn't have to be the whole organ, just the bits you can see now. Then we can give a correct ID for you and let you know anything that you want to know.
