I wonder in part if we and the other Hammond forums are responsible for the increase in demand and therefore, asking price of the leslies!

    Hallo Brendon.

I'm sure you're right, but there's no easy answer to it unless we suddenly discover a hoard of gear that's been hidden away for years and we have what the classic car folk call a Barn Find. They still turn up over here from time to time (witness a vintage Bugatti 2 years ago which sold for millions) so maybe some Leslie dealer locked up his secretwarehouse, went home in the 1960s and dropped dead without telling anyone where he kept his stuff! I'd better start looking.......if I find anything, I'll let you know!

Perhaps I might coordinate a search party down here. I'm sure we'll see some old Farm sheds today in our travels.

(off in the car on holiday in a few minutes)

    Cheers!

Hi Mark, welcome to the bunch! In the Midwest USA, B3/C3 command top dollar from the fame, but nearly every other type of tonewheel Hammond can be had in the range of free to USD$300. By contrast, Leslie 147/122 are in high demand, and bring USD$1400-$2000 in good condition.

As mentioned, there are other good Leslies to be had, or with slight mods can be very good.

    thx-Scott S.

    Hallo Scott,

Thanks for the friendly greeting! Yes, the search for a Leslie over here may be a long one; those that do come up all go for a good price, which is fair enough for quality gear. I've been spoiled really, asI own 4 organs and the combined cost of all 4 was 46.68, which translates to $74.36 U.S! Anyway, I shall carry on looking.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Hallo Tobeycat,

Would a Leslie 705 work with my Composer 144? One on eBay at the moment.

    Thanks,

Yes its 11 pin connection, but does NOT have top rotor horn, so will not sound much different to inbuilt leslie maybe louder, better waiting for proper 2 rotor model, and its ugly!
