    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

I wish I knew someone who was looking for an organ like this or was looking for one myself - what an excellent opportunity!

Would it be practical - for an extra charge - to change the stops from illuminated to actual moving stops?  Or would this involved reworking or replacing the entire combination action, rather than simply change to SAM's?

    Just curious . . .

Good luck and all the best to you!

    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

    Menschenstimme,

Unfortunately, it would be quite expensive to install a moving capture, since it would involve reworking the entire stop rail and all new stop controls and power supply for them.  Of course, labor involved would be substantial also.  On the bright side, the lighted rocker tabs have proven themselves to be very dependable and trouble-free.

    Thanks,

     Dave.

Any chance of financing available, or cash-only type of sale?

Sorry, no in house financing. I can arrange for third party financing, but the rates are usually a bit high. The best I can do is Credit Cards or Paypal.

    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

It has 4 different organs installed?  One would presume that they would have differing stop lists--how does one handle that with the stop tabs?

    Organist777,

The link in your first post does not work. However, you can key in the info to go to your page. It's nice to see prices posted on the site.

RE the PT239, is this the organ that belonged to the Phoenix salesman in Arizona? I hope it goes to a good home or small chapel: nice organ.

    David,

We can provide printed laminated stoplist that are set-up visually like the stop rail, that shows the underlying stop names.  All stops are usually laid out with a near stop equivalent; ex: Principal 8' = Montre 8' = Diapason 8', etc.  Mostly, I just remember what is there when a particular stop is pulled on a particular specification.  It really does not take that long to learn them.

    Dave.

    Hi, BOZ.

Thanks for the heads up on the broken link.  I've fixed it now.  Yes, this is the studio organ of the Phoenix Rep from Arizona who passed away a couple of years ago.  His widow tried to sell it, but had no luck.  I eventually bought it from her and have done some updating to the system and have given it a good thought check-up.

    Dave.

    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

    Clarion,

Thanks for your comments.  Everyone's mileage may vary depending on any particular Phoenix Organ they are playing.  I've installed many, and each one has it's own slightly different chararcter.  That's just as it should be in my view.

This organ does not have a French Specification so, your obsevation does not directly apply here, but with others I've installed, especially those with larger specifications, there are plenty of 16' and 8' stops to satisfy the demands of French registration.  Having said that, let's face it, if you want a particular organ be it French, English, Baroque, Spanish, American Classic, then one should build that organ.  With all multiple Spec organs, all of the other specs/organs, other than the "default" spec will need some compromise in the stoplists to fit the default framework.

     Dave.

    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

Clarion and Dave have carefully explained how Phoenix, as well as Allen and others handle the extra specifications.  The other alternative is that of the Rodgers' Voice Palette, where the "hidden" voices may differ radically from the names on the stop knobs.  It avoids the pitch straitjacket of the Phoenix and Allen--plus it allows mixing voices of different organ building schools, but introduces another variable, where an unfamiliar organist can select a Krummhorn and get something completely different, such as Handbells.  And yes, it has happened to me.

    Re: Phoenix PT239 For Sale

Thank you to everyone for the discussion.  Hopefully there is now a little better understanding of the Phoenix Organ system in general; that's a good thing.

But... (isn't there aways a "but"?) This thread is about finding a new home for the only used Phoenix Organ in existance, for one lucky person.  I am constantly amused how just about any thread on these forums tend to end up as a stream of consciousness tome.Cool

Now... anyone in the market for a great organ at a great price?Big Smile

    Dave.

(BTW, this organ can have 2009 updates on request, for a few extra $$$... I've already updated some things).
