For those who may not be aware, an avatar in the world of computers is an iconic representation of an individual. On this forum avatars are displayed accompanying usernames in posts and elsewhere. In order for an avatar to display your username, click on Settings and under My Settings click Edit Avatar. You can also change your avatar there.
Having an avatar is desirable because it helps establish an individual's visual presence on the site.
In order to help websites and people to establish this presence easily, Gravatars were born. Gravatars make it easy for you to centrally create and manage a single avatar for all sites supporting gravatars.
The Organ Forum is now using gravatars as the default avatar for all users who have not set up an avatar in Settings as described above.
Here's how it works:

- If you've already added an avatar image to your Settings, you'll see no change in your avatar.
- If you have not added an avatar image to your Settings and you have not registered a gravatar, a gravatar unique to you will be displayed as your avatar.
- If you have not added an avatar image to your Settings and you have registered a gravatar, your registered gravatar will be displayed as your forum avatar.
- If you've already added an avatar image to your Settings and wish to use the gravatar you created, go to Settings/My Settings and click Do Not Use Avatar.
