Jefferson Theatre, Beaumont Texas

The first real pipe organ I ever played was the one at the Jefferson theatre in Beaumont Texas. It was a Robert Morton (3/8 I believe) and had a beautiful sound. It was recently renovated and redone (with a lot of help from my uncle), but they had to evacuate from the hurricane.

I know Beaumont was hit, but do not know the details. Does any one know if this organ is okay?

Thanks a bunch, that was worrying me a little bit. With all the trouble to refurbish the organ, I hoped that it was still okay.

I'm wondering how Nuclearchildren (Kevin) and his family made it through the storm. He lives in Houston or at least he did. I sent him an email and haven't heard back.

I also have an organ friend that lives in Houston... Stephen Morris, organist at Church of the Holy Spirit in Houston. I've been wondering how he's doing, but don't have an address to e-mail.

I'm sure he and Kevin are just fine...

Thanks for the concern, we in Houston (westside) were extremely lucky to have Rita go east of us to the poor folks in Beaumont and Cameron LA. My part of town had little rain and only gusts of 40 mph wind - truly fortunate. Many prepared and left town. We 'sheltered in place'. I even moved the Hammond away from the window. Almost everything is back to normal at least on the westside. Really makes you think, a cat 3 hurricane really packs a punch. I didn't get the e-mail, let me check the address im the profile...
