Re: Check this bad boy out!

gotta LOVE the two rows of expression pedals. Exactly how do TWO crescendo pedals work anyway?

Well, the second one is CLOSER to being a real and useful console. At least as far as the super-sized organs go. But still ... I agree ... a horrible waste of time and money.

If you had 2 crescendo pedals on a super large organ you could set it up a couple ways. The first would be to have one pedal the first half of the sequence and the other pedal add the second half. With that many ranks of pipes you could space each addition out a little on the pedal by spreading them over 2 pedals. The other would be to attach each one to different parts of the organ ... one has great/swell/pedal ... another has solo/choir/etc.

7 manuals, 7 expression pedals. What's the problem?

I've never let my physical limitations affect my performance. Just ask my ex!

Re: Check this bad boy out!

I like the second one better, but it's too inefficient. It would be done beter by having 5 manuals, and two floating. What's the purpose of 8 manuals when you can't even reach the top ones?

...plus, it doesn't even look to have that many stops at least for an organ of 8 manuals - no nead for so many manuals. Plus, some of those toe pistons would be virtually impossible to hit.

                I think it's photoshopped

                Tutti, there are 8 manuals.

                lol

Re: Check this bad boy out!

A Long time ago on the back of one of the Organ periodicals (spelling) there was a Kawai that was very similar except on the right side it had another full set of pedals and the bench could rotate. Very futuristic looking also.

I don't see that it's impossible that it exists, let's find out shall we.

Why make assumptions? We know what happens when we assume don't we!! LOL

Sorry, the image thing doesn't seem to be working on this end. Another shot of the second console

There are 3 consoles in this house. That's the other one... a good deal uglier if I do say so myself

The organ does NOT work. Quite a bit of the pipes are missing or damaged, as shown above

More pipes... Not sure what some of that stuff is! It looks like mitered reeds mixed in throughout though...

If its clearly a theatre organ, then why all the religious doo-dads on it? I mean I see a cross sitting on the xylophones for gosh sakes!

Because all the doo-dads make it more gaudy and visually 'impressive' I would suspect. An attempt to visually overwhelm the viewer.

Could you just imagine trying to play a new piece on one of those?

OMG, what would it take weeks? Months to learn and do it the way you wanted it and then at concert time you say "Oh, That sounds really good like that" and play it a differnt way!

                              LOL
