    Typically connection would be via a long cable with multiple conductors.

    In a large organ with a remote relay, there would be one wire for each note or each division (manuals and pedal), plus one wire for each stop.

    In a smaller organ with the relay contained in the console or if a matrix style key switch system is used, there would be one wire for each pipe.

    Either way this is a lot of wires in the cable. It might make sense to convert the keying and wiring to a multiplexer scheme or use MIDI as a means of connecting the console to the chambers/chests.
