  • Working at the high school of some friends of mine - how to approach things

So about a month ago I went to a drama performance of some friends of mine at the high school they go to. I initially went there to deliver one of them a present I had bought them for their birthday but I decided to stay for the entire event since it looked promising.

Anyways long story short after talking with both my friends (one more than the other admittedly) as well as their drama instructor (that helped put on the show) and a few other things, I'm considering either volunteering or interning (is that even a word lol) at the school they go to as an accompaniment organist/keyboardist for drama and choir productions. I'm thinking I'll use my own equipment considering one of the things that got me to consider "working" for them was the fact that during the second half of the performance their audio system went kaput, though that might have been more of a coincidence.

Here's where you come in. What should I do next? I've already talked with the drama instructor both in person and through email, and even though there's an instructor for both band and choir at the school, she still seems interested in hearing me. I have an MP3 of a song I wrote a few years ago that was performed live at a local concert that I think would serve as a good example of my composition abilities, along with some letters of recommendation from some friends I've worked with, and I'm also considering playing some of the pieces that were performed during the musicals of this school year if an 'audition' ever comes up that the staff wants to hear me.

But aside from that I'm really open to options... what do you think?
