  • Merry Christmas Everyone

    Hi all,

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas for Georgia, USA.

Mine hasn't been the best. My 86 year-old mother, who lives with me, was hospitalized last evening with a blood clot in her lower left lung. I am unmarried with no children; so, she is all the immediate family that I have. Due to her other health issues, my job as a college professor, and side-job as church organist, I had not had time this season to sit down and just play Christmas music for my own pleasure. I did that for about an hour this afternoon. That has been the highlight of my day so far.

Again, Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope you have a very Prosperous and Healthy New Year as well.

    Later,
    Allen

    Allen,

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles this year. Alas, it seems to be the curse of the musician. At least you'll know she'll get the best care possible in the hospital.

I'm so glad you had the opportunity to just sit down and play for yourself. As I do, I would guess you use playing music as a means of restoring the soul. Unfortunately, as one gets busy in the worlds of music and academia, so little time is left for one's self.

Thank you for being part of the Forum! I wish you the best on what's left of Christmas, as well as a better New Year.

      Michael,

At least my job as a college professor is not music; I actually teach mathematics. My music (including playing at my small Baptist church) is an outlet to the frustrations of life. I am thankful for my church position because it has kept me playing when otherwise the busyness of life may have stopped me from playing.

Allen thanks very much for the wishes. Christmas has come and gone and I pray that your mom will fully recover and be able to come home soon. Keep playing and praying. All the best. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

No fair, David! That's an old picture you posted last year!
