I found this Choral Domain Public Library Forum just now. Perhaps it will do.

[edit] Well, that site - while interesting - looks like a number of older posts, and there is an announcement that new posts should be directed to another page. When I went there it seemed rather complicated to participate

Well, we try our best to keep everything in order, esp most files were mixed up after 2007 server crash.

Forums there is an entirely different thing, it is not average user friendly, but it isn't that complicated, once you get the basics of wiki formating format, it is easy. We have composers, choral & organ scholars, musicians and very helpful.

Some of the reasons why old php forums were disabled,

2007 server crash, unlike here posts would appear immediately without mods approving this lead to excessive spamming and limitations of hardware, software and lack of time to maintain servers.

Re: forum for choral music?
Poked around Choralnet. The forums section gives several options, but some are also looking like they have merged into classifieds type postings. EuroChoralTalk has a lot of unanswered posts.

I'll check out OrganChat Yahoo!

A choral section would be nice on over here. Much organ playing is interactive with choirs and singing.
Trust me, there are NO intelligent forums concerning choral music. It is better to DO than to TALK about.
So if these 'aspiring idiot' conductors are not able to ask any questions of their colleagues, how might they be able to learn and improve themselves? [^o)] Why should individual choral conductors have to reinvent the wheel, when there are better ways for them to spend their time?

You cannot produce art in a vacuum.

OK, try this: Choralnet

Re: forum for choral music?
Well, I'm not pushing it, but the OrganChat Yahoo! Group does a lot of discussion about hymns and choral stuff, and a lot about liturgy, etc. I have to admit that I don't understand most of what they talk about as it seems to focus a lot on RC and Anglican liturgy and I have limited experience with that.

ReedGuy, I think that's a terrific idea!

There's a forum on BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbradio3/F7497568 which has a lot of discussion on choral music, though it's primarily tied to Radio 3's weekly broadcast of Choral Evensong. So obviously it's overwhelmingly Anglican oriented...

Having achoral music forumwouldn't be a bad idea. Although, I must confess, I don't know of any choral music forums.

Notwithstanding, I've directed and accompanied choirs for years, and I'm willing to bet that there are some other members on this forum who have also done either or both. Seeing as choirs and organs are related, I wonder if it would be okay to have a section on choirs and/or choir music on the organ forum? Or just start a choral music thread and see how it goes?

What does everyone think?

Anyone know of a good forum for discussing choral music?

I tried poking around google but mostly found archived discussions.
Tags: None
