  • The Ferguson book (Walter Holtkamp American Organ Builder)

I read the book yesterday, devouring it in mere hours, and was absolutely enthralled by the book (and some of the pictures). For those members of the forum who have not yet read the Ferguson book, I highly recommend it. For those members who have read the book, or are reading it, I would like to discus opinions of it.

That book has had quite a influence on me...in particular it has very much led me to my own conclusions that most extant pipe organs should be left "as is" without changing it into something it is not....for me this has applied very strongly to my own pipe organ in my home.

Regards Holtkamp: Something very elegant about his philosophy of mostly exposed ranks with minimum impedence to sound egress.

And I have always felt the way his pipes were arranged visually was a beautiful way of exposing (literally) the audience to what a organ really is.
