I was sitting in church during the early morning Sunday service(9 am,which I still play for, every week)and was listening to the female minister who was in `full swing`,with her sermon. She was just talking about the weather outside(she likes to keep her sermons topical!)and was saying that it was misty along the road she drove in on,when I happened to notice(I think most of the other congregation were catching up on their sleep)that a mysterious mist was enveloping the small church. Could this be the wrath of God on those that slumbered during her speech......................... ....................... .no,a lamp in which incence was burning in the sanctury, had caught light and was spilling foul smelling smoke out, behind the mister and unseen by her. The steward jumped up sharply,as I shouted "fire" and, much to the minister`s amazement, flew into the kitchen, came quickly back out and poured a kettle of water over the lamp. It didn` look quite so Holy as it sort of fizzled out,but at least it woke everyone up!</p>
Another time,I was waiting, somewhat impatiently(after the service we all gather for refreshments and a chat)for a lady to come out of the kitchen with the milk container,as it needed replenishment. All of a sudden,I heard myself shout loudly,"just where is that cow",as she emerged from the kitchen with a bemused look on her face...........`oops!`
