• Help with an Organ

I picked up a Conn 712 and Leslie 50C at the GoodWill a few days ago. I'm sure this sounds bad, but I was going to use the Leslie as a Sub enclosure. I didn't, and still don't for the most part, know what I have. I posted on AudioKarma about it and they sent me here. Most told me it would be sad to see the Leslie gutted like I was thinking. So now I'm thinking of junking the Conn and selling the Leslie with the preamp that is in the Conn because it accepts RCA inputs.

I don't want to destroy something that doesn't need to be. I've realized using it for my original plans wouldn't do it justice so I'm trying to figure out what my next steps should be. The Conn is tube based. From what I can tell the Leslie was last made in 1959, but I have no idea about the Conn and can't find any information about it.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

    Thanks!

I posted some pictures of it on an audiokarma thread.

    Re: Help with an Organ

You could probably accomplish your goal to remove the old amplifier by finding a substitute to put back into the organ console. Many conn amps are on Ebay. Just be sure it came from a comparable model so it will have the correct power and mate to the internal tremolo baffle. The 712 is in the console family as I recall -- does your organ have 25 or 32 pedals? However you should only consider doing this if you intend to play the organ. Your investment in making the organ whole again will probably equal (or exceed) its value so you'd not be able to make any profit.
