I owned a PR200 in the early 70s. I played pop organ in Santa Rosa, CA in nightclubs. I loved it. I had a celeste generator installed in my model. I'd love to get my hands on one. Sorry this reply is so late, but I just noticed it.

    Hi,
I only just saw your message about purchasing a Baldwin PR200 organ.

I don't know if you ever bought it but I can certainly say that if you did you won't be dissapointed.

My PR200 was allegedly toured by the late Reginald Dixon on his farewell tour of Great Britain back in the 70,s after he left Blackpool Tower and I am really pleased with it.

I often think about having the organ fitted with a midi kit in order to play the Wurlitzer samples from the Tower but as yet I haven't made that move.

Please let me know if you did buy the Baldwin and what you think of it.

    Best wishes,

    David

      Hi,
I saw your reply to the gentleman who was considering buying a Baldwin PR200 the other day and read that you had a celeste generator fitted to yours.

I have a couple of questions regarding the above mentioned and wondered if you would be kind enough to reply to my mail.

1:How did the generator affect the overall sound?

2:Is this particular item still available to be fitted?

My Baldwin PR200 was allegedly owned by the late Reginald Dixon and used on his farewell tour of Great Britain back in the late 70's after he left the Blackpool Tower.

I look forward to your reply with eager anticipation.

      Best wishes,

      David

        Hello David,

You said: often think about having the organ fitted with a midi kit in order to play the Wurlitzer samples from the Tower but as yet I haven't made that move.

Where can I find these Wurlitzer samples? I'd love to add them to my collection. I have a Hammond X-77 that I'm going to add midi to, or a third keyboard. I haven't decided yet.

        To answer your questions:

        1. The generator was only on one of the string stops and was tuned slightly sharp, to cause a pipe-like celeste. It was so awesome on slow tunes and made the PR very full sounding.

        2. I don't know if the board is available or not. I had a Baldwin dealer technician install it (It was his idea). It took him about a half-day to do it and I haven't a clue what was involved. I know it was a duplicate of one of the boards already in the organ.

I sure would like to get my hands on a PR200 somewhere. eBay never has them.

          Re: Baldwin PR200

          Dear George,
Please forgive my late reply to your e-mail of June 30th.
I get so busy with my work that I sometimes forget that I have left messages on various web sites and it is not unusual to find that I have been left messages that are waiting for an long overdue reply.

Going back to the Tower WurliTzer samples.
I have not taken receipt of these yet but I have played them on a friends Wersi organ and they are phenomenal!

My Pr200 only has one tone cabinet on it and if it is the one as used by RHD i remember it having two.

The celeste effect sounds like an interesting one.

Are you resident in the USA or the UK?

If you are a UK resident and ever find yourself in Blackpool feel free to come and play on the Baldwin as it now resides in a Blackpool church where it is used frequently.

I have done two "outside" jobs with it but as you can appreciate it is a big task to move it.

As far as I know only thirteen PR200's were shipped to the Uk and I am aware that two of those have been destroyed.
One caught fire and the other was dumped on a tip.

If you wish to contact me direct please e-mail me to: [email protected]

          Best wishes,

          David
