Please advise...What is the value of a Viscount DK 800 Classical Electronic Organ

Our Church inherited the a Viscount DK 800 classical electronic organ (analog), with 32 note AGO pedalboard, bench and rolltop. Although appreiciative, our worship genre leans more toward a B3 with a leslie. This being the case, we thought we'd pass it on at a resonable price to someone who could appreciate it's value/function, using the sale as a springboard to enhance our ministry. Easy, heh? That's what we thought.

Our present results... N.B.C. ... (Nothing But Confusion!) Most of the difficulty stems from being unsure of it's real value...therefore unable to establish what a "resonable price" actually is.

The organ is well kept, (everything working/cosmetically attractive) with minor adjustments needed to the felts at the pedalboard. There are approximately 40+ tabs. They are as follows:

    Manual I: Bordun 16', Prinzipal 8', Vox Coe lestis 8', Prinzipal 4', Giemshorn 4' Offenflote 4', Nasard 2 2/3', Oktave 2', Waldflote 2', Terrflote 1 3/5', Sifflote 1', Kornett IV Fach, Mixtur IV Fach, Trompete 8' Vox Humana 8'.

    Manual II: Prinzipal 8', Viola Da Gamba 8', Offenflate 8', Oktave 4', Rohrfloter 4', Quinte 2 2/3', Oktave 2', Blockflote 2', Spitzquinte 1 1/3', Flageolet 1" Raush Pfeife III-Fach, Dulzian 8', Regal 8'.

Far left: Chorus II/I, Pedalstarke w/ switch.
Fare Right: Echo, Fern w/Echo Volume Pot
Center: (White Buttons): HR, PP, P, MF, F, FF, Tutti, TA

    Transposer: Gb. G, Ab, A, A#, B#.

What is the value of this organ? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Some people like analog organs, but the ones that seem to hold their value the best, are Rodgers and Allen. That being said, the analog organs DON'T hold their value against digital models, so I am afraid that your organ may not be worth much.

I can get a digital Allen, from the 1970's, right now for $500.

If your organ has MIDI, that will help a lot in its value.

      Hello!

Another significant factor in an instrument's value is its location; most older organs
will cost MUCH more to transport any distance, than their potential sale price.
As noted by radagast: many 'other' analog instruments, and first-generation
computer instruments, are selling for less than $1000; a *minimal* professional move
would cost that much or more, even for a short distance. I obtained my
Rodgers 990 on that basis about a year ago.

Please feel free to contact me off-list: music@st-andrews-church.org.
My church already has a 2M/11R tracker--but I have other contacts who may
well be interested (various locations across the U.S.--I cannot help with other
      countries!).

agrees with a previous poster, depends on whether it has MIDI or not. That fact alone will determine whether it is worth more than 1k.

MIDI is a computer interface, look for a MIDI in/out jack somewhere on the organ (probably in back somewhere). There should be some stop tabs that say MIDI to great, MIDI to swell, MIDI to pedal as well.

If it doesn't have the connections or MIDI stop tabs then it doesn't have it and the value would be severely impacted.

As you say it is a analog organ I doubt it would have MIDI but it could have been added.

As it has AGO specification pedals it will have value to someone though as a practice/home instrument.
