I would give very strong consideration to the custom 2 manual Allen for $5500 if you don't need MIDI or "new" and can tolerate the finish. The custom ADC organs were very pipe-like in sound. The consoles of that era were built like tanks.

The Chapel CF-2a isn't going to attract a good organist (my opinion); the smaller pedal board often gets complaints; and the stoplist is just the bare minimum--the pedal stops are pathetic (in number).

If you have to spend the bare minimum, you should definitely be looking for a used quality instrument.

Good morning - I would ask that you give the Johannus product serious consideration - consider the Opus 37, Sweelinck 17 or 27 models. You will not find more organ for the money - I am in Tampa, but from NE Florida originally (Jacksonville/Callahan) and can work within your budget on a new instrument with a 10-year warranty that will meet your musical requirements and exceed your expectations - these are 4 or 5 discrete channel instruments. I would be privileged to provide you with a proposal - check out www.floridaorganworks.com and/or www.johannus.com before you make a costly mistake.

            Hi nobody,

It's your decision, your money (or church's money) that will be spent if you get something.

I would not consider the Allen Chapel CF-2a an inspired choice. Maybe a choice based on low budget. This is the smallest organ Allen makes. It comes with the despised "Princess" pedalboard, which is a reduced size pedalboard which many organists find hard to play or get used to. Also, I think the standard recommended speakers for these organs are the HC-14 or HC-15, not the HR-200. These speakers do not sound the same. So, if you do not get the recommended speakers, you may end up having the instrument revoiced quite extensively.

The other organ you mentioned the MDS-15 sounds like a pretty good deal. Will need external speakers though. At least the seller knows approx. what such an organ is worth. Far too many people think their instrument is worth more than they could ever get for it.

There is currently an Allen ADC 1100 on ebay with a very low starting bid: $800. It is located in Ft. Meyers FL.

This is a basic small 2-manual organ, self contained, single expression pedal, no crescendo, system. It is a 2-channel organ. No combination action, but changeable presets.

If you need the bare minimum price, it is worth considering.

Does anyone have feedback on Johannus? My only worry is that, to be completely honest, it will not be as easy to service or fix years down the road. Is that reasonable? IS there anything I should know about them?

I will contact the poster about Johannus. I must say, every dealer I talk to, of course, swears theirs is best and everyone else's is terrible. I'm not accusing them of lying, but they might be a bit biased, so it's hard to trust their opinions completely.

Choose an Allen or a Rodgers. Period. Used is fine, but go as new as you possibly can with MIDI options that can make fantastic sound upgrades!

Well, I think that it is a very nice organ. Of course, I am a Allen fan. I have played an Allen Q325 for my church since it was new. You ( or your organist ) will love to play with the Quad voicing suites. And the Acoustic Portrait reverb system is great . To most everyone ( except the Purists ) this will sound like a pipe organ. You did fine in my estimation.

Congrats, nobody! (hehe) That's a nice organ and should have many many years left in it.
