What model is this Baldwin organ?

Hello all. Our church was recently gifted with a Baldwin organ still in good working order. I was wondering if someone could let me know the model number and specs for this instrument.

look under the keybed where your knees are when playing the organ,there is usually a tag under there with the model and serial number,if not there could be one on the back,or if the top lifts up there could be one under there.

I must confess, that I don't know much about Baldwin models, as i have serviced so few of them over the years, have few tech files on them, and even fewer parts for them.

Your close up doesn't give quite enough information on the total cabinetry and lower features but I did see some common "white buttons" and black panel above the swell in the 635 illustration of the organ history group. However the available combination pistons on your organ were fewer. The 635 is dated in the history as being late 80's so if this is a smaller family member of the same age it should have a good working life still in it. The main difference I see between your photos and the googling I've done on model 520 is the absence of cheek blocks and the location of the Brand Name plate. Seems the 520 photos on line show "Baldwin" on the extreme lower right of the keydesk.

Most of the obvious spec's should be determined by the names on the stop tongues. Are you looking further information on the amplification?

Several of us are still playing (and repairing) Baldwins from the mid to late 60's.

I believe it's a 625 or 632. These were among the earliest of the "micro-processor controlled" Baldwin analogs. This was the final series of analogs (extending up through the 626 - 636 - 645 models of the late 80's) and they are pretty decent. The layout is nice, very much standard church organ design, AGO manuals and pedals. Stoplist will be regular church organ stuff, though perhaps only one or two reeds total.

The tabs are moveable, as you can see from the photo. However, they do NOT move when the pistons are pressed, as these are blind presets, not changeable by the user. When a piston is engaged, the corresponding light will be on above the swell keyboard. The stop rail will be inactive when a preset is in use, and you can have a registration set up on the tabs that will come into play when you press the "C" piston to cancel whatever preset is on at the time.

You might search this forum for some info on these Baldwins. The tone generation system and sound quality would be similar to the 626, 635, 636, or 645 models of the same era. The other organs mentioned here have the "silent touch" action with tiny indicator lights above each tab, but the one in your picture has, as mentioned, moveable tabs and blind presets.

Not a bad little organ at all. Could had done much worse.
