I can tell you that they aren't very good business people. I have tried numerous times to email them and only got one response. They say there are demos of their organs, but I never got any response on how to get hold of them.

Say what you like about Rodgers, Allen, and most other companies, but they are good at responding with information to prospective customers. With their poor responses, DMP gives the impression that they are going to do a poor job in other areas like quality, service, etc. I wouldn't be interested in buying an organ from them.

Hoffrichter organs is another company I find annoying. For MONTHS they have said on their website that they would have the English pages up ""shortly". The poor guy in the U.K. trying to represent them has a hard time getting information from them to post on his site.

Both of these companies are not going to do well in the U.S. unless they change their business practices.

To answer your question, DMP uses sampling.

Thanks for thinking of me, even if the thoughts weren't all totally positive.

I am making progress with Hoffrichter. There is now a price list available on the UK website.
        http://www.hoffrichter-organs.co.uk/index.html.
Delivery times are getting shorter and communication is improving. Quality of workmanship has never been in doubt. His main problem is (if my understanding is correct) a pile of orders he can't keep up with, shortage of staff (though he is hiring more) and a lack of delegation (i.e. nobody else in the office who can respond to e-mails or make decisions while he is on the road or out of town, which is quite often) and nobody in the office who speaks much English.

If anyone wants more info, please feel free to mail me off-list or call me (there is a New Hampshire number that US-based list members can use).

        Best wishes,

        Douglas

Thank you. That was helpful. We are located in East Tenn, however we have been doing more work on the west coast lately. There is a possibility we will be in LA during January for a convention and a removal in Glendale. If you could please keep us all informed of the dedication date it would be appreciated!

            Thank you again,

              Brad,

I contacted them a while ago. Didn't hear anything, and then someone called me. All I can say, is that most questions I had were answered in a most evasive manner. They say they have been in the organ business for 50 years, supply organ parts to the industry, their technology is high resolution but proprietary (a state secret in other words). They told me they had installations all over the US, but none near where I live (Toronto, Canada). In other words none in Canada or north eastern US. The superiority of their instruments I was told was in the way they were pre-voiced, so they always sound right. In other words, no voicing is possible. I was told I would get some mp3 recordings of their instruments in an e-mail the next day. I am still waiting.

My guess is this is what they are about. They are some kind of distribution arm for an organ company in Korea called Aria. At least the description of their instruments and pictures (which are extremely fuzzy) match Aria products. The technology in those instruments is early generation Viscount digital from Italy.

              More I don't know.

              Cheers

I would advise to stay with a rodgers roland or allen

Just check out the company! If you do purchase from them on ebay, be sure to pay thru paypal. They will ask for a payment on your credit card, that way you have no recourse. They have my $2,000.00+ for a down payment, I guess you live and learn. Also if they have been in business for 50 years why have they only sold one organ in Oregon and none In Washington. The one they referred me to in Washington was a Rodgers. Strange yes ?????

We do seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel! I think we had a thread re-opened a few days ago that went all the way back to 2005. I think I joined this forum in 2007, possibly 2006. Does anyone know just when the Organ Forum got started? And how far back one can search the archives?

Edit ........... Oh, now I see in my own info at the left, I joined in September 2006......

Hi, Cliff - Welcome to the forum. Every comment bumps it up a bit, so your post is getting good exposure.

And don't feel bad about excavating this bag of bones thread. If you found the thread by Google and joined to comment, all's the good. I hope you DO eventually get a nice organ from them. Please let us know what happens.
