Good afternoon, and happy 2017.
I'm in the final stages of acquiring / gathering materials and components for a Hauptwerk build. It will be housed in a multipurpose room (den, family room, etc) which will measure 12 x 18 feet. My "go-to" sample set will be the Lavender Audio Hereford cathedral set, which involves 32' flue and reed stops.
This being a small house and a relatively small room, I'm resigned to using headphones (AKG K701), at least when my wife is home. FWIW, my interface is Focusrite Saffire 26.
That said, I'm thinking toward the purchase of a decent 2.1 setup for those situations when I might want to share what I'm doing, or even just to let rip when I can. The Presonus Eris E66 (x 2) and Presonus Temblor T10 (X 1) have caught my eye, and the price is within range. My concern is with the 16 hertz frequencies: the Temblor subwoofer only goes down to 20 hz.
Is this a genuine cause for concern, or am I just getting bogged down in numbers? I'm aware that in a (shared space) room this small, anything accommodating 32' stops is going to be a compromise. I'm just looking for some affirmation that I might be on the right track, and, if I'm off base, would welcome suggestions for a powered speaker setup which wouldn't exceed $2000 Canadian.
