I dont know. The Allen gets restoration this winter 2017/2018. I need a long winter project to work on when its 35 below and deep snow. I may do a restoration the Hammond H-112 winter of 2018/2019, or I might sell it prior to restoration ? I am not actively looking to sell, but for a good offer and a good home ? Its all tucked away in my nice warm/dry shop, covered and out of the way of any damage. Its got a future......but what ? 74corvette

I then went to college and got married and did not have access to a organ since then. Now 75, wife gone and live alone, I wanted to get back playing the organ in my own home. Do NOT desire to play in any church etc., Just my own enjoyment in my own home. So roughly 56 years not playing.

A wonderful person advertised a Allen T15A free, but I would have to move it. The Allen was professionally serviced last year. Its perfect in all ways except the Gyrophonic Projector motor was removed sometime in the past…..not a big deal to add a motor. The Cabinet is immaculate. Its a joy to play. With two others, I moved the Allen to my shop. The person also had a Hammond H-112 which he wanted gone, free, as he was moving. It also functions in all aspects and sounds great, but no Leslie. The Cabinet shows wear and use but can be restored. So, I took both free organs and have them in my shop.

I have to make a decision which gets restored this winter and then moved into my solar room. The move to the solar room will be tough, across my parking area, across my yard, up on my deck, off the deck, build a ramp to ground level, then build another ramp into the solar room. This is a one way, one time trip !

I realize and accept that the Allen T15A and Hammond H112 are different technologies and different ability in producing music. Either one will fit my needs/wants to play at home.

My question, which is best is based on which one will 'hopefully', last the longest with little problems. And which would be easier to repair if broken. Ok, I know they are both very old organs, but they were free and this is all I have to work with, Which would you focus one for restoration and the difficult move into the solar room.

Please excuse the long post, thank you

Even though I like Allen organs, I am very partial to the Hammond H series. Growing up it was my favorite organ because it was the most pipe like sounding Hammond I had heard. With its extra harmonic drawbars above the 1' pitch and the slow scan celeste in the vibrato section, it had a beautiful shimmer to its chorus sound. On the other hand I've read more than once that the complex vibrato scanner was more prone to breakdowns. I preferred the sound of the slow scan celeste over the sound of a slow Leslie.

My choice would be Allen because you can still get parts. I would considder to add a trem to the Allen. Not surechow easy it is to get hammond parts.
