  • Help with Allen MOS 1 202C - S-100 amp and expression pedal problem

Hello, Our not-for-profit organization that was just given an Allen MOS 1 Series 202C and a 32A/B Tone Cabinet pair. Everything works well and I've gone through and cleaned everything, cleaned all of the contacts and checked all of the fuses that I could see. I don't have a manual for this model and one of the S-100 amps is not working. The other problem is that the expression pedal has no effect on the sound level. I can hear out of one side just fine, but I can't change the volume with the pedal. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The expression on these Allens is based on the light hitting an LDR (light dependent resistor). The amount of light that falls upon the LDR is controlled by a mechanical shutter in the pedal.

The first thing to do is ascertain that the lamp in the expression housing is working. Looking at your photos, the lamp is connected the wires on the left side of the pedal.

Thank you very much for that information. It makes troubleshooting that aspect much simpler. The biggest issue we are having as an organization and repairing so many brands and models of organs, is getting manuals for them all. We have been lucky in some cases in getting PDF versions, but some are not at all common and trying to find manuals for them isn't easy. If you have any suggestions on the best/fastest way to diagnose the amp, I would be very appreciative.

      Best wishes,

      Steven
