  • Wicks Royal Classic

I've seen a few Royal Classic models for sale recently, and am a bit curious about it. I know the consoles were built by Viscount, with samples from Wicks. But that is the extent of my knowledge.
Were these decent instruments? How heavily customized was the onboard voicing and audio controls?

And are the drawknobs and rockers motorized or lighted?

From what I've seen, the RCII seems to range between $5k-9k, and the RCIII between $10k-15k. That a reasonable price range?

    Hi,

From what I know about the Royal Classics, was that Wicks designed the console to look like a wicks console, and the stops were also chosen by Wicks. A friend of mine who bought a number of Royal Classics, told me that the RC consoles looked much nicer than the equivalent Viscount Prestige model. The overall tone of the RC was American sounding.

I don't think Viscount has made any Royal Classics in over 10 years. There were 3 or 4 Royal Classics thst were auctioned off when Wicks went under.

I dont't know what the value of an RC would be these days. My guess is most folks would not know what a RC is, And even if they do, they would not know that in base form is a Viscount Prestige organ. Your pricing does not sound unreasonable.

Judging from their web site, Wicks did not go under, they downsized and moved across the street from their long-time home. There are posts on the site from April, 2018. In fact they have an RC II listed for sale on their web site for $8,000 and an RC III for $13,000.

What about voicing? Is it onboard, or via external software? And audio routing?
