Viscount/Wurlitzer Parts Info

I recently acquired a 90s vintage Wurlitzer badged Viscount small self-contained AGO instrument with full MIDI with hopes of using it to experiment with Hauptwerk. It's a model C-320.

Of course, once I got it home it no longer plays, turning itself off immediately after I power it on. Apparently it has the power supply issue mentioned in many threads on the Forum. I've read numerous posts about the ineffective and also normally defective Darlington 5volt regulator/transistor. Would this be the "ice cube" regulator I see on the power supply board?

Do any of you Viscount Experts know a source for either a new Darlington unit or a better replacement regulator?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

If you can get the part number off of the darlington power regulator, you can probably get a replacement from Digi-Key. Also, the Tech Support people from Viscount North America can probably furnish parts for this organ. Hope this helps.

One other thought....if it worked when you played it at it's original location, it's possible that a board (or boards) got jarred loose during transport. Have you tried taking the back off and checking to be sure that all boards and connecting cables are tight?

Another vote for checking/reseating connectors etc. Especially if the only obvious thing that happened between it working and not working was moving it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have checked all the connections, but I will recheck them.

The organist at the church where I acquired the little digital Wurlitzer told me the organ would shut itself down after it had been on for a while. I assumed a "while" meant 30 minutes not 3 seconds.

I'm assuming it shuts itself down to prevent further damage. That's why after reading many Viscount/Baldwin posts on the forum that I suspect is the power supply.

But I'm only an organist--not a technician--so I'm open to suggestions.

That it was shutting itself down prior to you getting it is significant :) Unfortunately I don’t know anything about the shutting down issue you’re having.
