  • Allen ADC-1140 organ dimensions/measurements compared to two manual Protege organ!

I'm wanting to know the dimensions/measurements on the Allen ADC-1140 organ compared to a "newer" two manual Protege organ with built-in speakers! In case I would find an ADC-1140,..or even 1160,...I want to find out if it would fit in the space I have allotted for one. A two manual Protégé organ with AGO pedal board will JUST barely fit. Is an ADC series organ too old of an organ to go with?

Which Protege organ are you comparing? The smallest Protege organs had "princess" pedalboards, the larger ones had AGO, and the console dimensions were different.

The ADC-1140 measures 57” x 32” w/o pedalboard, 50” with. These figures come from Tim Rufatti, who is selling an 1140 near St. Louis. This is posted here, on CL, and on EOGS.

        The AP-4 is slightly smaller.

Actually, the AP-4 is slightly larger than the 1140. The published dimensions are 57 1/8” w by 53” deep with pedals. A figure for console depth w/o pedals is not given. The AP=3 is smaller but does not have an AGO pedal board.

Allen's console drawing for the T Series console (used on the ADC-1140 and others) shows console depth without pedals as 31-3/4 inches, 49 with pedals, allow 58 with pedals and bench; width of 57-1/4 inches, and height of 47-3/8 without music rack, music rack adds an additional 10 inches.

ADC-1140 just MIGHT fit then! That's the oldest I'd want to go,though!

Width wise,...Protégé and ADC about same size, and depth wise when pedals are added! Not a whole lot of difference between the two,is there?

In terms of width, there is minimal difference--the width of the AGO pedalboard essentially defines the minimum width of the console. Depth can vary a little, but to give a reasonably proportioned look to the console, there is pretty much a minimum there, too--that can be less if you're willing to build a skinny-looking console and can cram the electronics into a shallow depth--but the proportions look odd if yo8u do this.

Don't forget the higher models in the MADC lineup--2100, 3100, 2160 and 3160. They offer the same stoplist as the 2140 with more features, and the same console dimensions. I particularly like the 2160 & 3160.

Here's an organ that ought to interest you: https://saginaw.craigslist.org/msg/d...737062734.html

It's an ADC-3160--top of the line of this series, at a very reasonable price of $3500. It does require 4 external speaker cabinets, but is a very nice organ. If you have the lolly and the space for the speakers, you are nuts not to get it if it is in good condition.

You know anything about the MOS2 series organs? Just curious! A Facebook friend is suggesting I also look into that series of organs as he has an MOS2 organ!

I just wonder how large the speaker cabinets are,...and if I'd even have room for them,...which is why I REALLY need an organ with built-in speakers.

Speakers are roughly 18 inch by 18 inch by 33 inch high. Give or take an inch or two . They can be stacked to consume a smaller space, and the organ can be mixed down to two channels, as it is in the ADC-1140.

I said "lolly"", not "dolly"--slang for funds.

Advantges of the ADC-1140 & other MADC organs over the MOS2 organs are: celeste voices, Chimes on the great, more accurate (pipe-like) sound, divided expression. The MADC has the best card reader system Allen ever did, as the card voices are already installed in the console, and the cards are just used as switches to access them.

My bad,...I misread it thinking you had meant to say if I had a dolly set up to move it,I should go get it! Anyway,...a shame I don't have the $3,500.00,...otherwise I would!

                          Too bad! :-(

By the way, Harbor Freight sells dollies at a very low cost, in case you need one.
