My mom has an ADC8350 (large 3m drawknob console), which has MIDI for note information, but none for the stops or capture action. Her instrument has four memories, labeled A-D. I have seen on this forum that the Zuma Group makes a drop-in replacement for the DM capture board which adds MIDI to the stop system, but I couldn't find out whether or not my mom's organ uses that DM capture board or not. How can I tell?

The Zuma Group board replaces a Dual Memory (DM) board. I don't think it will work with your mom's quad memory organ.Sam

I had hoped to develop a similar product for the ADC quad memory system, but the information in the technical manual is insufficient to even start a design, and I don't have an ADC model to reverse engineer.
Even if these obstacles didn't exist, I'm not sure whether a universal/cross model design would be possible as the mapping between the multiplexed data and the stops is in specification specific eproms. For the bi-directional control provided by Zuma MIDI Stop controller, it would be necessary to read the multiplexed stop data to determine the stop status, and, a bit more challenging, insert data into the data stream controlling the stops.

Admin, thanks for answering a question that has been lingering in my mind for a couple of years. I've wondered about the technical details of intercepting the data stream into and out of the USCP-2 quad memory board with something that could interface with MIDI, like Allen does with their note-only MIDI board. Both the USCP-2 capture board and the USCM-2 console multiplexer board have model-specific EPROMs with stop map information on them.
P.S. mlaird, you mom has a most impressive instrument. I'd love to find one of that model some day.
P.P.S Perhaps Michael (myorgan) would loan one of his ADC organs to you for reverse engineering.Larry is my name; Allen is an organ brand. Allen RMWTHEA.3 with RMI Electra-Piano; Allen 423-C+Gyro; Britson Opus OEM38; Steinway AR Duo-Art 7' grand piano, Mills Violano Virtuoso with MIDI; Hammond 9812H with roll player; Roland E-200; Mason&Hamlin AR Ampico grand piano, Allen ADC-5300-D with MIDI, Allen MADC-2110.

Unfortunately, only one has quad capture, and it's in the church where I play regularly. I could have loaned Admin my ADC-8000 while it was in his area, but also unfortunately, it's in the other corner of the USA now! I do have a MIDI card to add to it when my garage is done.
I agree with the sentiment regarding the ADC-8350. For me, it's the penultimate instrument Allen made in its classical organ history. It's the holy grail I'll probably never see.:'( Oh, well.
MichaelWay too many organs to list, but I do have 5 Allens:- MOS-2 Model 505-B / ADC-4300-DK / ADC-5400 / ADC-6000 (Symphony) / ADC-8000DKC
