hello all, just a reminder that the Buzzy Reed contest is still open. Let's see some video comparisons of various analog and digital organs. Of special interest this week, MOS-1 vs ADC or MDS, etc. vs Rodgers first generation digital.

Also, what happened to the Mother of All Electronic Organ Lists? As far as I can tell it's been taken over by some Colorado band...

Yep.. I moved to another state **insert dueling banjos here** and they had trouble getting my internet connection to work. Only three more years of school left and I'll not have to live here anymore. Ugh.

Now, where's those videos?? **shoots off guns in typical hick style**

They actually have commercials for Hunters Rights and Gun shops here. Not that I really have problems with either, suprisingly, I just find it odd that they would need to advertise. Oooooooooooh I miss Minnesota!

Buzzy, you take care of yourself out there in the wild, wild west. Some folks out there don't take kindly to furrinners, especialy Minnesotans who play anything besides the fiddle and the dobro. You might keep it to yourself that you play the you-know-what.If you get out socially, you might try adding a little Texas swagger to your walk, just to let the locals know you can take care of yourself.

I hope I can supply you with some interesting organ recordings as time goes by. It would seem natural for me to do that, since I work onseveral different organs most weeks. In the past month I have acquired a small mixer, a decent omni-directional microphone, and an external Sound Blaster for my laptop. With this equipment and using Cakewalk Home Studio I can make CD-quality recordings with a little effort.

My problem is lack of free time. Seems all I can do to get the more urgent things done, have a little practice time, pay the bills, and so on. But I'm hoping to steal awayto the church one early morning soon and catch you some samples of the various stops on the analog Rodgers. I don't know how your weather is, but it's hotter than Hades here, hitting 106 several days lately, so I'd best do this early in the day. We cool the church a little through the week when it's mostly empty, but it still gets pretty warm in there by afternoon!

        Yippy Ty Yi Yay!

          Hey Guys,

I played in an organ recital on a MOS-1 and I hope to get the recordings posted here. I'm just waiting for my Dad to get some software to take the recordings off his High Definition HDV camera and into the computer. Seems the software he has right now isn't compatible with HDV, only regular DV. Once I get those onto DVD, I'll try to get my songs posted onto YouTube.

One warning- it was recorded with the camera's internal mic. While technically stereo, it's still a camcorder mic. Still better than nothing, and the church is nice, which helps.

          -Jon

BTW- Anybody know any good software for doing this? Preferably something that would allow you to pull the footage off an HDV cam, cut up the chapters, and create a DVD from it.

            Jon,

Seems this stuff is in the realm of techno-nerds, not normally accessible to the lesser of us. Best Buy and all those places don't mind selling us all the equipment we can charge on our Visa, but it seems that no one really knows how to make our amateur video shoots into playable DVD's!! What gives?

I told my 19-year-old son today that I needed to upload some audio files so Buzzzzzzzy can hear them. He laughed at me for my lame attempt to use YouTube, and said there are scads of websites where one can upload audio (mp3) for sharing. Maybe if I'm good he'll show me how to do it. But I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck with your video editing.

Ever tried a Macintosh with iMovie and iDVD? Most consumer commercial players available right now do not support HDV--too much bandwidth and resolution. It'll be about a year or two before that changes. Meanwhile, for the rest of us, there's the Macintosh. That's what I use for all my video production needs.

Another idea. If you're looking to pull the audio only and make it available, just plug the sound from the camera into the computer and record. A good, free program is available at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. It has multi-track stereo recording, records up to 32-bit depth floating point, and up to 96 KHz sampling rate (44.1 KHz is the standard CD quality).

              Hope this helps.
