• What's a Fair Allen S-100 Amp Price?

Just purchased an older, 2 computer-4 channelAllen. When the organ was removed from the church, the organist gave the Rodgers dealer an old Allen amp.

When I set it up a couple of weeks ago, the amp for channels 3&4 kept blowing fuses. Upon contacting the local Allen repair person, we discovered that the @#$!$#%* Rodgers dealer (who, by the way, just yanked speaker and amp wires out of the back of the console when removing it) had removed two of the S-100 amps from the back of the Allen and replaced it with the dual amp, which is blowing fuses because it was designed to work only with later Allen models. [:@]Grrrrrr.

Now I have to buy a couple of amps and install them. Any idea what a fair price for one S-100 amp would be?

    Thanks in advance.

I see them on Ebay fairly often. The going seems to be about $70ea. If you are patient, you can probably for as much as twenty dollars cheaper.

    Here is one right now:

Yes, Michael. The one in the ebay auction above is the CODE you need, if your amps are in the console. You can see that it has an expression capacitor mounted on top (the little yellowish tubular cap mounted horizontally near the volume control. It also has 3 RCA jacks, which is what you need when the amps are in the console. One is the signal input, one is the expression pedal connection, and the other is the mute relay connection.

That is the type to look for for MOS1 and MOS2 in-console amps. If the amps are external on a rack, there will be no expression cap, and there may be only a single screw-on audio connection. It's hard to tell from the outside, on this type, whether or not the pre-amp is inside, which it must have to work with MOS organs. But IF YOU SEE AN EXPRESSION CAP ON TOP, IT IS DEFINITELY THE TYPE YOU NEED.
