  • Johannus Rembrandt 397 on ebay

I'm not too familiar with Johannus organs other than spending about 30 minutes on a new one at a friend's church. The Rembrandt 397 currently listed on Ebay is of interest to me. Questions I have about this particular model include:

    1. Age of the instrument; approximate year/s Johannus was producing this particular model?
    2. Can this model be voiced via Intonat software? If not, how is it voiced? Information obtained from the company's website regarding Intonat lists several of their models compatible with Intonat however, the Rembrandt 397 wasn't among those listed.

I would like to hear from those familiar with this particular model, any information that would be helpful.

It's probably around 10 years old. I don't know about the voicing. My organ teacher teaches on a 497. It's a lot of fun to play and sounds amazing. I don't particularly care for the lighted drawknobs, but there are more than enough pistons and toe studs. Also the suites and temperaments are fun to experiment with.

I believe the 397 is fairly modern. Not current production, but not too far back. I'm surprised the Johannus site wouldn't list it as one of the models voiced with Intonat. I'm almost dead certain that it is voiced with Intonat. I think it is one of the models with a built-in "nam" file so you don't even have to get the specific stop-list file from Johannus; just connect and start up Intonat and it automatically recognizes the organ. That feature became standard on models built about 15 years ago, I think, which was just about the last time I installed and voiced a Johannus. (Our local dealership closed.)

The Johannus Rembrandt 397 is between about 8 - 13 years old and is the last of the Rembrandts series made before being replaced by the current Ecclesia line. Every Johannus digital organ uses an Intonat voicing program which allows for one of the most detailed adjustments that I am aware of, however, each organ model name and or model number uses a specified Intonat version such as 4.0 or 4.1 thru 4.3, the next are 5.0 thru 5.4. The newest models use 6.0 thru 6.3. Be very sure to get the correct version which can be ordered from any dealer. All you need is a simple low cost laptop and midi to USB cables.
There are currently more Johannus dealers in the USA than ever before, since most of the Rodgers dealers now also sell Johannus.
We saw the listing on Ebay and it seems to be a fair price but make sure that Mr. FF doesn't trip you up, he should supply all 9 Johannus built speakers, one of which must be the powered subwoofer so as to get that 32' Subbass in the bottom half of the lowest octave at full power. Keep us posted if you bought the 397, we can be of more help when and if you need it.
