Re: Need Recommend Models for either Allen or Rogers......please!
If I were faced with that decision, and your're not faced with tonal requirements, (there's a ton of difference between the way a Hammond, an Allen, and a Rodgers sounds!) then I would look for the most dependable in operation, and who will be servicing the organ. In many locations, it's easy to get service on a Hammond, but not on an Allen or a Rodgers. Cavaet emptor! In my location, for example (I'm in the Atlanta area), it's easy to get service on all three. But you have to watch out for the techs that work on Rodgers and Hammonds because they're not all dependable, or honest. If you don't know about these situations, it might be a good idea to seek the experience of other organists in your area. Type into your computer search box....MITA (Musical Instrument Technicians Association) and work your way into the list of member technicians....there might be one or two close to you. Then, research that technician's name with organists in your area. Best of luck!

Wendol,

Just to say, the Allen and Rodgers both made numerous models. It would be hard to give advice without some extra criteria such as whether you would at all want an analog organ or just a digital model, whether it is to be a 2 manual or 3 manual (or even a 4 manual), whether you are interested in an almost new model or one that is 20 or even 30 years old, and how much you would be willing to spend.

Both Allen and Rodgers have built models that are more desirable than others.

On the computer (and this forum), you don't need to press the Enter key at the end of every line--only at the end of paragraphs.

As stated before, Hammonds are vastly different from Allen & Rodgers. Some clarification of your post would help. For example:

Church or home?

Style of music (theater, jazz, classical, hymns, church, halloween[;)])?

Do you need MIDI?

Analog or digital (already asked in this thread)? That means, does it use tubes/transistors, or computers to produce sound?

Budget?

Used or knew?

Music novice or professional?

Young student purchasing for the future, or retired seeking entertainment?
[/list]
Those are just starter questions. I'm sure you can think of more. Once we know more about what your needs are, then you will receive a better recommendation.

Hope this helps.

Jay999---Great advice information, ThanksLet me try toanswer the questions as to the use and requirements. I'm interested in purchasing the instrument for a church(about300 in attendance), used forhymns, and concerning analog or digital...looking for the most dependable, within a price range of up to $3,000. Hope this helps narrow it down. Thanks to all for you time in helping with this.
