  • Allen part for stop tab

I have already posted on "wanted" for an Allen ADC stop tab magnet assembly, but since I had no responses I might try it this way. All I really need is the reed switches to do some repairs on these units. Does anyone one if there is an off the shelf part number for these reed switches? Any directions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    John,

I believe John (jbird604) would have the information you seek. I'll also look in my manuals to see if it is disclosed there as well.

I don't remember the details, but I do know that we have used a plain vanilla generic reed switch to replace the reed switches on Allen stop assemblies. Just measure the length and get some new ones that are the same size. Make sure they are single-pole, normally OPEN type. I believe the last ones I got came from Amazon and only cost a few dollars for a box of 10 or 20. They work perfectly in all Allen applications -- pedal switches, stop switches, manual key switches.

The advantage to buying some from Allen parts (at a cost of several dollars EACH) is that they have the wires already cut to length and bent into the "L" shape necessary for soldering to the board. But you can do the cutting and bending yourself. Just be sure to buy extras, because you're bound to break one now and then trying to bend the wire. Use needle nose pliers to hold the wire where it enters the switch while you are bending the wire. The point where the wire enters the glass is the spot that must NOT move or bend, as that will result in the switch being broken.

THANKS ALL. I'll measure it and find it. I 'm aware of the fragility; I've salvaged some form other assemblies, it does not take much to break them :(

The brand of the reedswitch should be Meder. They still use the same brand just mostly surface mount now. Yes, they do break easily.
