• I need info on a rodgers 900B organ

If any one noticed, a while ago I made a post about a Rodgers 900B. I said I wasn't interested. BUT I AM NOW RE-INTERESTED! Can I get any info on an organ like this. How is the sound quality? Is it heavly unified? If not, is it at all unified? Is it digital or analog? DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE I CAN GET A SOUND SAMPLE OF ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the organ worth $5000 in pristene condition?

I WANT ANYONES OPINION ON THIS ORGAN OR ONE LIKE IT.

    Here is the organ:

    Hello!

    1) Please tell us how you are going to be using the organ (church or home?)

    2)

I have a Rodgers 100 from the late 70's. It is MUCH smaller and also older than this model, however, I has a very beautiful sound; particularly with a slow rotation Leslie and an Alesis NanoVerb. However, then when you take off the Flute FF and add the Diapason FF it has a loud full sound to it.

The point is, I am very happy with my small 2 manual HEAVILY unified self contained Rodgers from the 70's which was purchased for $1500, and so I'm sure this organ would be very adequate for you. It has multiple swell shoes, memory pistons, 3 manuals, and draw knobs. What more can you ask for for 5000?? In other words, yes this is a great price, keep in mind its condition as well.

The 900B is an analog instrument. You can tell when you see the tone generators in the "inside" images. It is not self contained (speakers are external) so you will need a LOT of room for this; especially if you plan to use both a regular speaker and a Leslie speaker. I would say that for small-medium chapel use, this would be a great organ. However, it seems a little much for home use, unless you have lots of extra space.

Remember, as well, that moving of this instrument will cost money. Even if you are moving it in your own van, you will still need to pay for gas, and probably some helpers. Since this is such a big instrument, however, professional moving will cost $$$.

    In sum:

Big organ = Good ....just remember to include speakers when finding space for it

Price = fantastic....but make sure you see and play it first to make sure there are no "catches"

    Moving will = $$

Bells and whistles given organ's age = A++

This comes from somebody who has done a significant amount of research on Rodgers organs in the past.

    Hope that helped!

          Brandon,

$7800 is not really too much for that organ, especially if that's the delivered and set up price. It's too much if you're going to have to do your own moving and setup, though. Is it from a dealer? Is there a warranty?

The 900B is a very late analog Rodgers, not nearly as unified as most older ones, and with certain technical mods that hide the unification pretty well. Each organ division has its own separate ranks of flutes, principals, reeds, and strings. Separate celeste ranks for each divison, and quite a few straight solo stops, as well as independent percussion stops. You won't really notice the unification, though the sub and super couplers are not as useful as they would be on a truly straight organ.

I play on an 890 at church, which is almost the same organ without the Festival Trumpet and a few other niceties. It is quite a wonderful instrument, though I'd love to have a digital if themoney were available. But it's a good organ, much better than most that I see in the course of my day to day service business.

As with all Rodgers analogs, the setup and voicing procedure is vital. It may sound awful or awesome, depending on the skill of the installer and how much time he spends on it.

Yes it is a good price. But my ultimate price limit was $5000. Its just too expensive for me!

Wait around. The price may come down if it doesn't sell right away. Perhaps it will come down to your price range. Or make the guy an offer and see if he'll go for it.
