4” midrange speakers for HC-14 speakers

I have a mud 80's Allen with HC-14 cabinets and the midrange speakers are blown. Does anyone have a source for replacement speakers?

The Peerless units used in this model are no longer being manufactured. Allen might still have a supply as a spare part, at a high price. The other alternatives are the used market (ebay, etc.), replacing the surround (which has been discussed here on the forum repeatedly) or finding a suitable new driver. Since this style of speaker does not seem to be manufactured by anyone, you might consider this driver: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton...range--285-020

It is a little less sensitive and will need different mounting screw holes (I think) but it is the closest I've found according to its specifications.

If you can build and mount a sub-enclosure for the midrange, there are other options. Sealed back midrange speakers are becoming very hard to source.

I wrote this before, but the replacement surrounds can be purchased. Just google "speaker surround refoaming" and a number of sellers will pop up. I found that the replacement kit for Bose 901 surrounds fit very well and come in set of 8 (I believe) and are very reasonable. Repairing is easy but requires a little patience.
