  • ADC 8350 looking for home

At the risk of improper posting, I feel a need to post here what I just posted on the Allen Organ owners group. It's an incredible instrument desperate for a home. This ADC 8350 is in FL and if things were different I'd drive get it. Yet the sellers are funny about the price, but anyhow here 's what I wrote on AOOG:
HI People, I just spoke with the people selling it. It came with at least 14 HC12 which they "were getting rid of because the tweeters were shot" . I told them it's like selling a car without its wheels as any repair on an HC12 is easy. Now they're up against the wall, closing on the house etc. I"m supposed to hear from the "liquidator" as he may still have the speakers. Of course travel is out of the question right now, I'm in NY(upstate). I wished I could find a way to have it moved into storage until better times. I tried t talk price and they're very cagey about it.Tried to get a range of price but they would not say, maybe the liquidator would. If this get lost, it's a crime. Anyone have any ideas?

The Craigslist ad shows it as part of an estate sale that was March 13-14. Apparently no one bought it. Besides HC-12's there are some PP-3's on the wall.

Did anyone ver get a price? They kept saying "offer". (opening at $1 ) so I offered $500, ridiculous I know, yet they would not give me even a price range yet kept saying how desperate they were. Some people don't know how to do business!

I bet we can guess who the Liquidator might be. Oh, well. Another one bites the dust!

This recession/depression might put the FF out of business for good. Let's hope so. I cannot wait to see a liquidation sale on his warehouse full of overpriced treasures, fetching pennies on the dollar if anything. Of course, as we know, many of his deals involve instruments that he has never physically possessed, but I am guessing that he has a fair number in storage as well.

I tried to visit him when I was in Venice FL last January. You'll have to PM me on the results. He may be lurking.

                :"He may be lurking."

True, dat. Not much else for a church organist to do these days than to troll the Forum for derogatory comments.

Actually, Don, he does have a membership here, and not infrequently in the past have I seen an organ mentioned here, and within a few hours FF had it listed on *Bay. I quickly realized if I wanted to find an organ to purchase, I ABSOLUTELY NEVER discuss it here first. There are certain people on the Forum I trust for advice, and then I go from there. I lost some nice organs to his clutches (i.e. a MDS-65 and an MDS-75-not sure which as he had it listed as both).

Yes, Michael, I am well aware of his schenanigans on the Forum. I presume that he has already checked out this thread based on its title and either acted on the information or discarded it as useless because he already knew about the organ from other sources.

Problem is, he is now parting out ADC, and presumably some MDS organs now. When he gets them and can't sell them at the inflated price, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Just check out the ADC amplifiers currently on *Bay. His are 2-3 times the price of other vendors.

                Unfortunately it's a free market.

True, that. It's when it becomes predatory, and one less organ is no longer available to organists who could use them. That's why I appreciate your project so much—finding perfectly usable organs and getting them into the hands of students and interested organizations. Thank YOU!!!

You're welcome. It's fun! ( for a tinkerer like me) and musically rewarding. I don't play, but love the results!

I've seen and played this organ and was going to buy until I discovered there was no way to get it into my house. It's enormous. I have spoken with the woman managing the estate sale and according to her, it was going into storage because they had no buyer and the family did not want to junk it. I do not believe that it has gone to a liquidator at this time.

                  Mike,

Do you think she is still open to offers, or is done with it? PM me if you think I should speak to her.

                  Michael

I spoke to the same woman last week, she kept calling it a "piano". She said the speakers were "tossed" because the "tweeters were shot". I said that's silly they can be fixed. Besides trying to sell this organ w/o speakers is like selling a car without wheels. Then she said I'll talk to the "liquidator", he'll get back to you.
Next day still no call. I called her back, she said. I'm done with this. So I said, can I talk to the owners?( I actually had the possibility of storage and transport lined up)she said NO, it's done. So I said why didn't the liquidator call me? She said because I am the liquidator! ....?????
Later she texted me that it had been donated to a church and she was done with it. By that time I gave up.
Moral of the story: If you have someone liquidate your assets, make sure they know how and what is being liquidated.
