2 questions about "Fatar Keyboards" and the price of allen organ
question 1: can anyone explain about fatar keyboards? I looked up this word "fatar" in the dictionary but it doesn't exist. (my mother language is not english[:$])

question 2:my church is going to purchase a new allen organ"QL320e" and its original price inmy country is around $83,000. (fortunately the dealer made a special discount and we can purchase itwith $60,000 include "Allen Vista"[:|]) How about in US or other countries? For example the price of "Q385C" (3manual, 80stops) isaround "$240,000.Don't you think that it is too expensive?

Re: 2 questions about "Fatar Keyboards" and the price of allen organ
Those prices are ridiculously high. A quantum lumitech organ shouldn't cost half that. My dealer quoted me that same organ in the $30,000 range. My church installed a Q345 about 2-3 years ago and it cost between $90-100,000. The Q345 has 58 speaking stops. And better yet, when we were considering expanding to the big 4 manual 136 stop (with floating string division), the pricetag on it was about $248,000. The dealer's prices are just a tad bit...inflated. You may want to check into that. I do realize that inflation has changed prices lately, but by almost 200 percent, I don't think so...

...and I'm unfamiliar with these Fatar keyboards, from what I hear, they are pretty decent, but not as good as Allen's own keyboards.

Re: 2 questions about "Fatar Keyboards" and the price of allen organ
Hi Cheese,

What is it about Fatar keyboards you want to know? Fatar, is a company that makes keyboards for musical instruments, mostly synthesizer keyboards, digital piano keyboards and organ keyboards. Their web-site is www.fatar.com.

For classical/church organs Fatar makes 3 basic designs, which can be (if ordered in bulk) customized to the manufacturers specs. Things like key tension, track-touch, colour and finish of playing surfaces are things that can be customized. In general Fatar keyboards are going to be way cheaper than Allen's own keyboards. The Allen keyboards are likely to be much more durable than Fatar, especially when it comes to the switching part.

You don't state what country you are in, or whether the dollar value is in US dollars. You don't even state whether the organ your church is purchasing is going to have Fatar keyboards installed.

As to dollar values, it is hard to say. Once an organ leaves the US, you get into expensive freight charges, logistics expenses, and import duties. Plus you may need experts flown to the site to install and voice the instrument. This all has a bearing on the final price.

As for the Q385C, that retails for around £55000 or about US$110000 (base spec). Allen Vista unit typically adds about an extra £1500 (US$3000) to an organ.

Hope you plenty of fun with the Allen, I certainly did when I demo-ed it.

What country are do you live in? The prices still seem awfully high, thats why I'd like to know what country you are in. Perhaps stuff like import duty might add a large chunk to the price as does shipping...to wherever you live.
