• Changing presets on a Baldwin C-630

Just came across The Organ Forum and enjoy reading people's experiences and questions.

I wondered how difficult it is to change the presets ona Baldwin C-630. I got the organ new, but just never used the presets much because they weren't that useful to my notion as set up at the factory. I play mostly Baroque music, so many changes are not that critical with two manuals, but a third quick change would be helpful at times.

I'm not talking about radical changes, but adding or changing a couple of stops. I have the schematics for the organ. Is an electronic organ tech required, or can someone with good electronic skills do this? I'm not willing to spend a fortune to get this done. I've lived without changing them this long.

I've been happy with this organ as a practice instrument (of course every organ has a few things I would change), and have never lusted after something newer. Unless something drastic happens to it, we will probably both go out together.

    Great question!

I was wondering the same thing. I'm new to The Organ Forum now also. I recently bought a Baldwin 630 T and it has been treating me pretty well but that is one of the drawbacks. If you hear anything from anyone, let me know!

Unfortunately the presets are hard-wired and cannot be changed without doing some major re-engineering. A good tech can help you get the channels properly balanced, and that will help make the existing presets more useful.
