• Allen Card Reader Question

I got word that the card reader on our mid-80's Allen finally got fixed (it has been broken for about 10 years). Just a quick question from my mom who is one of the organists, do you just stick the card in and out or do you have to put one end in, turn it around and do the other end? because the whole card does not fit into the card reader. Thanks guys!

You just slide the one end in and then pull the card out. There should be a subtle arrow printed on the card as to the direction of insertion. The card should be interted with the printed side up, so to speak. Hope this helps!

On older units (MOS-1 & MOS-2), you turn the alterable voice knob to the location where you want the voice "installed', then slide the card in and pull it out.

On ADC & MDS units, you turn on Alterable Voice 1 and/or Alterable Voice 2tab/drawknob where you want the voice "installed", then slide the card in and pull it out.

In both cases, the end with the clipped corner goes in first, and about an inch or so of the card stays outside the reader before the card hits the stop.

        That seems simple enough haha!

Thanks guys, we have tons of these tone cards so it will be fun to finally be able to try them out. Hopefully we can find a nice loud reed.

If you can find an IBM card punch somewhere (lots of luck on that) and some cards (try eBay), I have a spreadsheet that can enable you to alter or create cards to your own specification.
