  • Monarch Organ pedal calibration

I was planning on calibrating the pedals on a hammond monarch for a friend. I have no reference as to how much weight it should take to depress the pedals, so i used my spinet as a gauge, because the pedals on it are quite comfortable, and easy to depress. I found it requires approximately 17 troy ounces to depress the pedals. Any tips, suggestions, or standards i can go by?

Try to find a balance between too loose and too tight. Too loose will allow the pedals to "bounce" after release. Too tight "can" stress the pedal assembly. I usually tighten them just enough to eliminate any bounce, even with fast playing. I try to not over tighten them where damage from stress might occur.</p>

Well, thanks. I suppose if seventeen ounces fits that criteria, that will do just fine.
