So I recently acquired an old Fender Contempo organ that I'm trying to fix up. I got it home and it fired right up, but I couldn't get any output out of it. I searched around the web and discovered that it needs the volume pedal with the 6 pin connector cable to produce any output. Unfortunately, I do not have the volume pedal. Does anybody know of a way to either rig up a volume pedal or some sort of easy mod just to get it going? The only volume pedal currently available is on eBay for $300, which is ridiculous in my opinion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'll bet that it's an optical pedal, and can be - replaced with a resistor or two for testing purposes. Getting a schematic will be the tricky part ;-(
Yes it is going to be a bit difficult finding a schematic. The only info I've found was from a tech stating to "Just bridge a resistance across the in and out lugs to the volume ldr (light dependent resistor) or potentiometer depending on the design." I am not entirely sure how to do this so any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Well, I just tried jumping pin 1 to 5 and 2 to 4, but I am still not getting any audible output. I tried going through the treble out as well as the bass out. Any recommendation on a good starting point to troubleshoot this organ? I peaked at the schematic, but in all honesty it's a bit over my head. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
The section of the schematic with the volume pedal shows that the pedal contains a pair of ganged potentiometers for bass and treble, and another potentiometer with a capacitor for tone control. If you look at the circuit board, wires to pins 2 and 4 are red, while wires to pin 5 and 1 are brown. Pin 3 is black, and goes to ground. I suggest that you look inside at the wiring to the pedal jack, and be certain that you have the correct pins jumped. Red to red, and brown to brown.

I just double checked and unfortunately, I am still not getting any output. I alligator clipped pin 1 to 5 (brown to brown) and pin 2 to 4 (red to red). Pin 3 is ground and there is a pin in the center that does not have any wires attached.
