Hi , could anyone kindly tell me if putting new tubes in my m100 and 145 will improve the sound? The hammond seems to be sounding a little tired and the leslie horns dont seem to be screaming as loudly as they should. The treble frequencies don t seem that strong, if that makes any sense. thanks. john

I have the same problem as you. In my M3, the treble notes don't seem to be as loud as the bass notes, although it is not totally obvious. But, I do suspect that part of the problem is the tubes. At least, that is the first place I would look.

I don't think I can help very much - it may be an internal problem of failing components..

But you can at least start by cleaning the tube pins and sockets on the M-100's output section and leslie amp. Unplug organ, remove tubes, spray pins and sockets with electronic contact cleaner, seat the tube, remove re-seat a few times. How does the organ sound through the internal speakers? Check for any volume change before/after you clean the m-100's tube pins.

Remember that the M100 does not have foldback all the way up the manuals on all drawbars like a full console Hammond. It is somewhat normal for the gain to fall off as you play up the manual. But.........cleaning the tube sockets and pins will improve it greatly if there is an issue there.

if cleaning the pins doesn't work, and you swap the tubes, and that doesn't work, and you replace the tone generator capacitors, and that doesn't work, and you add harmonic foldback to the organ, and that doesn't work, then maybe you could consider this?
