Re: Running AO-29 with TG stopped, Field Coil Question
To clarify the first question a bit. The run motor is the bit I'm curious about. If it has current running to it, but is not spinning, can that cause any problems?
Re: Running AO-29 with TG stopped, Field Coil Question
I'm curious about what kind of sound I could get running the internal Jensen from an Epiphone Valve Jr for recording a resonator equipped with a Fishman piezo. Naturally, it being a field coil, the coil needs to be energized for it to function. The AO-29 knows how to do that obviously, but although the TG is pretty quiet - it's not quiet enough for recording.

The second question is due to the fact that I pulled another nice field coil out of an S Model chord organ, but am not sure on what kind of power the coil would need to run it from the tube head.

Re: Running AO-29 with TG stopped, Field Coil Question
I would second TheAdmiral's advice. Energizing a stopped ac motor will cause currents to be induced in the rotor which will cause the rotor to heat up. If left for any length of time, damage could occur. Hardly worth the risk.

I thought that might be the case (which is why I thought I would ask yall before fiddlin with anything). And I see the Admiral is already onto my next line of thought, haha.

3. Can it hurt anything to drop a switch in to disable the run motor? And if not, which wire (if any) would be best to interrupt?
