• Troubleshooting The Bass Rotor

    Hello everyone!

My Leslie 900's wooden bass rotor is single speed. I have know clue why, that is just the way they built it for some reason. But, would there be a rather simple way to make it two speed? And/or, there is an electronic brake on the bass rotor. So, instead of it gradually spinning down, it spins down in about 5-6 seconds, with the aid of the brake. How would I disengage this? Thanks very much.

It appears that dioode D12 and capacitors C64 and C65 control the braking for the bass rotor. One could try removing the two caps and shorting the diode to emulate the same circuit as the treble motors use to bypass the braking action.

It would not be easy to make this a two speed like the treble since that is mechanical involving a second motor.

One would probably go to a DC type motor to do a two speed arrangement.
