this is selling soon at an auction/estate sale in my area...

I'm seeing half-moon switches...looks like that *might* be a tone cab of some kind just out of the shot to the right...

your thoughts? My uncle is an auctioneer in the area, and we were talking about my "new" M3, and he said they've had two organs recently at their auctions and they can't give them away...I don't know how closely people watch these listings or how many folks know what they're really looking at...anyway, y'all help me decide if I should go check this out!

You lucky sob. a GEM of a year too...I'd guess 1960 because of the plastic end blocks and no pilot light. If the vibrato knob is smooth it can't be later than '61.

This is the first time i've seen an "ID" thread that didn't concern its self with Auroras or Dolphins or (insert LSI crap model here...).

You sir, would be living mine and many other people's dream to own this piece of mint history. Did I say mint?

That's what I was wondering/hoping/praying...however, I would be shocked if this one really slipped through the cracks, i.e. if no one else shows up interested and willing to lay down the cash. I'll definitely go and see what I might get it for. The auction is still more than a week away...

From what I gather (from my uncle and others), the thing with organs at auctions is nobody wants to have to haul them. For whatever reason, people will come out for antique furniture, with their trucks and trailers, but 9 times out of 10 won't give $10 for an organ because they're just so stinkin' heavy and impractical.

So...fingers crossed. Looks like it's in amazing condition. Thing is, even if I couldn't get it for a "steal," still might be a "deal." I'll post back after the big event...

And yeah, I have been around a few B3s and even played one or two in my time (as well as a couple of B2s, C3s, etc), but I'm still too new at this to know what physical characteristics to look for (with the exception of the plate on the back that identifies the model!) to know exactly what I'm looking at. So thanks for the help!! As I said, my only fear is that I won't be the only "lucky SOB" who turns up interested in this beauty...but we'll see.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the *auctioneer* realizes that this isn't just you're everyday organ that's a pain to get rid of, and hasn't called some potentially interested parties, or even dealers. On the other hand, the fact that it isn't given a more prominent place in the auction listing (it's listed simply as "Hammond elec. organ"?!?!?!) and the photo gallery says maybe not - I imagine if they realized it was a mint B3 (and potentially WORTH a "mint") there'd be 10 pictures of it, and the tone cab, all over the listing - which there isn't - good sign perhaps.

That's a dream auction. So much fun. I can't wait to hear what goes down. You are right in everything you are saying they would describe it better and have more photos. You have the possibility of getting this almost free. Have fun!
I never unlocked thegenerator on my B3. All the floating generator doesis make it a little quieter which for live rock rock and R&B was pretty much a non issue.

But if it is a stay at home organ you would would probably want to unlock it.
