  • T200 series burned diodes

    Hi!

I just got this little baby, but I think I should have remove all the dust and cat hair that was in it! After an hour or 2 of playing, I got some burning smell! I unpluged it and I just found that that all the diodes are burnt on the power supply section.. I will replace them all, but beeing there, I will also replace all the capacitors. They look fine, but why take any chance? Any idea what would be a good alternative for those Mallory type FP big can capacitor (C615 to C619A-B)? I looked around, but I can't find any. I hope the power supply did not took some damage..

The relay L602 seems fine, but the diode across it is also burned. Any replacement for it? It's a Sigma 59F1d 24Vdc.

    Thanks!

A few years back on Yahoo's Hammond Zone forum, member Axjon gave me permission to post up his photos here.
Never got around to it but they're still sitting in my photobucket account!

He showed how he replaced his cans with discreet components.
From experience I've found you can hide all of the new capacitors safely inside the chassis, so you can leave the old cans on the chassis if you want , disconnected.

Note that C615, the smoother for the -25VDC supply should go in with its + attached to ground.
This caught me out and I toasted the darn thing!
Here's a bit more info that might be useful:

If your relay is fried I guess any relay activated by 24V with mains switched on the other side will be fine.
I've got my own relay sitting in a box here somewhere, if you can't find something closer to home.

Thanks Brandon, I will go that way for the can capacitor. Thanks for pointing out about C615, I had already noticed but it's a good point to take care! Do you have any clue about the sudden death of all the diodes at the same time?
