  • Aurora Classic - one key very low volume

    Hi,
I am new to this forum, having just obtained a Hammond Aurora Classic model 232172. It has a few little problems, the main one being that E2 on the lower keyboard plays only at very low volume, almost inaudible.
I've removed the keyboard assembly and inspected it. There are no apparent mechanical problems, and the contact closes electrically when the key is pressed.
While I have discrete electronics and trouble-shooting experience in industrial electronics, this is my first venture into repair of an organ.
Any suggestions about where I should be looking this fault would be gratefully received.
    Regards,
    Gary

Some additional information re the Aurora Classic, a visiting friend discovered that the E2 key in question does work correctly when any of the 3 'Fascinating Fingers' options are selected. Otherwise, it is still as described above.
    Regards
    Gary

The Aurora is now repaired. The fault was a short circuit capacitor C1 on one of the three small vertical pcb's (located on the Generator PCB) associated with this particular E key.
These pcb's are described on the circuit as "Typical Printed Network (Couplet)" and are related to either Sustain or Percussion.
Many thanks to David and Alan for their material support and encouragement.
