Vibrato/ Percussion Spring Replacement

Hey guys,
I need to replace the brass springs in my percussion rocker switch on my B3. Is there a correct procedure for installing them? I ordered a couple new ones and it seems easy to bend the old ones. I figure a lot of patience and the right tool to do the job. Any advice is appreciated.

Bobmann has a Youtube video that addresses handling these pesky springs. I have learned that putting a string or rubber band around them while installing them, makes them less likely to sprooiiiinnnggg into never-never land, and hemostats or locking tweezers are helpful. After installing, simply cut the string or rubber band off... don't attempt to untie them.

Thanks Roger. I got tired of bending and reshaping the old ones and finally one went into space so I just orderd a couple new ones. Great info. I'll check Bob's video out. I just picked up a pair of hemostats with a bend on the end.

Fast forward to 6:25

I need to revise this video, as I found that by rocking the tablet so that the circuit board part is exposed...actually opposite of what the video shows...then insert the spring in the board side, then rock the tablet the other way...as shown in the video...which makes it easier to hook that part of the spring onto the tablet. Hold the spring with your tweezers on the tablet side.
I use hooked tip tweezers; try not to clamp the hemostats too tight.

Hope that makes sense.

Roger's idea is most excellent, and will save you some aggravation...one day when I purge my shop I will find a bucket full of these things.

Hey Bob, Thanks

I got the new springs and used a pair of small needle nose pliers and they went in just fine. I put them in the percussion on/ off switch. I put the first one in on the right and then slid it over to the slot next to the edge of the box and then put the other one in the vacant slot.
