  • Leslie 122 sound (again)

    Hi,

In one of my last posts I asked what could cause my Leslie 122 sound too dull. In the meanwhile, I
recapped the crossover, but it still does not sound the way I'd like it. The driver was also replaced
before. So the problem can only come from the amp or the bass speaker. There is just too
few highs in the sound I think. Only when I pick up the Leslie with mics, I can get the sound that
I like, where I can also hear a little crosstalk. Without mics, it sound more like my solton leslie if
I cut out most of the highs.

On the other hand I've discovered that when I only play high frequency notes (only high notes and only the 1' drawbar),
I hear enough high frequencies (and a lot of crosstalk). Thus, in general the high frequencies seem to be
there, but in the mix with the bass speaker, they seem to be masked. Could it be that for some reason
the bass is just too loud? The bass speaker should be the original one.

[oh...sorry....this has to be placed in the Leslie-section. Don't know how to move it...]

    Greetings
    Christian

I've had good luck by re-setting the diaphragm ( if it's a v21). Every time I get a leslie I perform that task with good results. Also sometimes there's a cotton ball or debris in the throat.
