Hi everyone, Not sure if this should be here or under keyboards...smiles..
I recently purchased a Hammond Xk-3. I’m really liking it. I need an expression pedal... are there any “generic” models that would work... or only the one for the XK-3?
Thanks for all of you help! You guys have been great to me over the years!

The Yamaha FC 7 works but you might have to get a polarity adapter. The Roland EV5 works as well as the M-Audio that looks like it. The M-Audio has a polarity switch. The owners manual has some info about expression pedals. There is also a Hammond expression pedal that is similar in construction to these in that it uses a potentiometer to increase/decrease the expression.
The Hammond Expression pedal (EXP-100F) uses a light bulb and light receiver with a filter between them that changes the amount of light reaching the receiver as the pedal moves. The benefit to this is that the expression change will always be smooth without jumps and noises due to a dirty/worn pot. Also, this pedal has a long arc of travel that provides a wide range of volume/expression change.
The XK-3 has a number of expression settings such as the amount of high and low frequency change over the pedal's travel, the minimum to which the expression can be lowered, as well as several expression curve choices. These settings work no matter the pedal used but the greater the arc of travel the more expressive the expression can be.
