  • M101 bass petals

I am about to button up my M101, but still have 1 problem to sort out. The bass C and C# petals play the same tone, and may be both the C and C# combined. I have not found anything on the petals. Any ideas where to start looking?
Thanks again for all the help I have received here.

Are the pedals of the M101 monophonic or polyphonic? I know some old organs have monophonic pedals. If so, my guess would be that there is a crossed wire in the pedals that turns on both c and c# circuits. If the organ produce only one tone that would explain your problem.

"Button up" implies that it was "unbuttoned" at some point. What all did you do to this organ? Were the bass pedals working before?

Each pedal should make an audible "click" when it is pushed down. This is the sound of the peal pusher latching the pedal contact. Do you hear a "click" when playing every pedal, especially the low C and C#?

If the pedal contacts appear to be working right, the next thing to check is the wiring between the pedalboard and the tone generator. A wire break between the C pedal and the generator will cause what you describe.

I did some checking and found there is a wire broken to the pedals. I dropped the pedals, and it looks like they have been worked on before, as the wires have been cut and spliced back together. I keep breaking others while trying to trace the wires through the mess of the splices. Also, while trying to test it out, I now have the C and C# with no tone. I think I will do a complete rewire on the pedals.

Any 20 gauge hookup wire will do. It’s nothing fancy or high voltage. Good luck!

Went to Lowes, got a spool of door bell wire, and replaced all the wire to the pedals. The grommet is a little full, but all the pedals work. I will finish putting the top and back on tonight, and will move it from the garage to the back bedroom this weekend. I think I now have a great sounding organ. Thanks for all the suggestions.
